About the blog:

Mathematics University( www.mathematicsuniversity.com)  is the largest K-8 mathematics professional development company in the Southeastern United States.  Our commitment is to not only provide teachers with the greatest mathematical training and inservice as possible, but also to educate parents and students about number sense in the real world. Hopefully, people will naturally build their mathematical aptitude and that in turn will help standardized test scores rise in the schools.

This blog was created to discuss textbooks that are being used in schools. So much money gets invested every 5-6 years, that I thought it would be great to share the successes and pitfalls about certain elementary textbook series. It is important to choose a good mathematics textbook  because as trends in education change and expectations for teachers and students increase, we need to make sure that we don’t allow districts to get trapped in a mathematics series that won’t accept change in the education environment. Stagnant teaching leads to stagnant students, which in turn creates stagnation of the state standardized test scores.
